Love NZ recycling bins are now recognised by over 48 percent of New Zealanders, according to Horizon Research.

Whilst that’s a great achievement in just over a year, the Love NZ team want even more people to recycle. Supported by Coca Cola, Trade Me, Vodafone and The Warehouse, Love NZ is running a six week campaign called “It’s a Karma Thing” to improve public place recycling.

The campaign runs from 22 October to 3 December. Love NZ public place recycling bins will be labelled with GPS located QR codes. Recyclers provide evidence of the code via a text from their mobile or via the online auction website www.karmathing.co.nz.

They are then awarded “Karma Kredits” to bid on items donated by industry, such as smart phones, TVs, and shopping vouchers. The strategy is to tap into the karma principles of ‘doing the right thing’ and to use competition to make it fun.

Organisations interested in being part of the Love NZ programme should contact donna@lovenz.org.nz or go to www.lovenz.org.nz.
