  2. Invest in on-going knowledge development
  3. Promote and foster industry professionalism, including health and safety standards
  4. Source and provide advice on the implementation of a national waste minimisation strategy
  5. Be positioned as a partner to facilitate the achievement of an environmentally sustainable waste minimisation strategy
  6. Optimise WasteMINZ to achieve the Strategic Plan

An abridged version of the Strategic Plan is available here.

Our Achievements

WasteMINZ has achieved recognition from central and local government as well as from international agencies as being the major independent organisation representing the waste management space in New Zealand.

Within New Zealand, WasteMINZ regularly communicates with a number of Ministries and Government Agencies, Local Government New Zealand and local and regional councils.  This provides feedback on key areas of interest and relevance for waste management which is incorporated into the topics for the WasteMINZ annual conference, workshops and seminars.

WasteMINZ interacts with a number of other similar organisations (see links) and is a national member of the International Solid Waste Association (“ISWA”), for which WasteMINZ hosted the ISA World Congress in 1997 in Wellington with a number of international delegates attending.
