Read the programme and register now for the WasteMINZ Workshops being held 27th and 28th April 2010 in Auckland.
WasteMINZ is delighted to open registrations to its 2010 workshops, which bring you another value-packed line up, from what is happening at the Ministry for the Environment to Behaviour Change.
This year’s line up includes how to strengthen your Waste Minimisation Fund applications, Waste Minimisation and Management Plans and Product Stewardship Accreditation applications, and a two-day Behaviour Change workshop. A synopsis of the submissions and key themes of the proposed National Environmental Standard for Assessing and Managing Contaminants in Soil will be provided, together with an industry led discussion and overview of the WasteMINZ Contaminated Land sector group submission.
Plus much more, including; Construction & Demolition Waste, Product Stewardship, Compost and Liquid & Hazardous Waste.
In addition you have the opportunity to learn how to change the outcome of the battle with the challenge of Behaviour Change with a two-day Behaviour Change workshop (make sure you register early as there are only 80 seats available – first come, first served!), delivered by Lisa Smith from Minds at Work, Australia, following on from her enlightening and motivating presentation at the WasteMINZ 2009 Conference.
Lisa will lead you through two days of learning and prepare you for battle on a range of behaviour change subjects. The line-up for day one includes; Behaviour Change: why it is important and what it might mean to you, Turning ideas into actions – thinking differently about how you think, followed by developing behaviour change strategies. Then on day two you will learn; Secrets of the great marketers to create behaviour change, Why people change (and why so often they don’t) and Evaluation frameworks. Which will all be rounded out nicely in the closing plenary session ‘Your top 10 dos and don’ts’ – easy tips for you to take back to your workplace, community and into your life.
There is a great session on Construction & Demolition Waste, which includes options for improving cleanfill management, new findings – using recycled concrete aggregates in roads and pavements, plus an overview of the WasteMINZ C & D Waste sector group’s application to the Waste Minimisation Fund.
For those involved with Liquid & Hazardous Waste, there is the opportunity to join members of the Technical Working Group as they review and discuss the update to the Liquid & Hazardous Waste Code of Practice.
There are some interesting sessions from a product stewardship perspective. Join Sue Coutts from the Community Recycling Network as she launches their Campaign for Real Recycling, followed by an overview of the Glass Packaging Forum’s Scheme, which is the first related to packaging to have been assessed for accreditation. Later in the day a New Zealand closed-loop model for Tyres is outlined.
Compost NZ will discuss compost feedstock contamination – a barrier to increasing the level of organic recycling and minimising waste to landfill, with a number of contaminants considered; physical, chemical and biological. There is also an interesting knowledge sharing session ‘Building relationships with key decision makers: successful stakeholder engagement models’, which will provide attendees with multiple perspectives and perhaps fresh insights to use for the future.
And of course, WasteMINZ is delighted to bring you a great networking session and an opportunity to catch up with new and old friends alike in the Oyster Bar at the close of day one.
So read the programme and register now and we look forward to seeing you in April.
