Brief description: An in-house developed in-vessel horizontal composting unit (HCU). The reactor comprises a semi-continuous, covered long bin, located on a concrete base. Daily turning and moving of material is carried out using an excavator. Finished compost is primarily used as potting mix and bedding material for an associated tree nursery.

Brief description: Food waste is pulverised in a hogger and transferred to an agitated concrete bay for hot composting. The material is then vermi-composted in windrows and the final products sold.

PACIFIC ISLANDS
Lord Howe Island, South West Pacific

Description: A vertical in-vessel reactor system. The facility also includes a sludge dewatering plant. Product is used as a soil conditioner on public gardens and the golf course, and is also freely available to residents for use on private gardens.

Brief description: An aerated static pile process preceeded by size reduction of yard waste and wood, using a tub grinder. Maturation is carried out separately, using a second aerated static pile system. Product is screened and sold by the truckload for landscaping applications and in bags.
