The following regularly include articles on composting:

Biocycle: This well known journal covers recycling and composting practice and also carries brief reports on research, written in a popular style. It is published monthly by The JG Press Inc, Emmaus, Pennsylvania, USA. (http://www.jgpress.com)

Organic NZ. This is the journal of the Soil & Health Association of New Zealand. It continues Soil and Health, the Compost Journal and the Compost Magazine (see below). (http://www.soil-health.org.nz/)

For historical interest see

  • "Compost Magazine" (Massey University library has a fairly complete collection spanning the years 1943-1961)
  • the subsequent "Compost Journal" (Lincoln University library has a collection from 1961-1965)

A Guide to In-Vessel Composting

This guide, which includes a directory of system suppliers, was published in the UK in 2004 and is available from The Composting Association. It can be ordered through www.compost.org.uk.

CityFarmer: A little off topic but still relevant. This Canadian site covers everything in respect to urban farming, so of course that means composting too. Includes paper abstracts, things happening in other countries, etc. (http://www.cityfarmer.org/)

Cornell Composting: Cornell's site is quite extensive covering research projects, a good section for school kids, and resource materials.

Ecorecycle Victoria
State government agency in Victoria, Australia. Resources include a guide to best practice, links to compost specifications and guidance on marketing compost products.
