A Waste is hazardous when it poses a present or potential
danger to human health or the environment. Adverse effects
of hazardous waste can occur at various stages of the life
cycle including generation, transportation, treatment,
storage and disposal. The hazardous nature of a waste can
be due to its concentration, quantity or characteristics.
Several examples of potentially hazardous waste include:
- Industrial chemicals
- Agricultural chemical waste and containers
- Mercury
- Oil and other petroleum products
- Lead and acid batteries
