Nelson City Council needs an enthusiastic professional with strengths in waste minimisation and related carbon reduction activities to join their team.
Their dedicated Science and Environment team is focused on delivering programmes to enhance Nelson’s natural environment, and this is an exciting time to join. You will contribute to the delivery of Nelson City Council’s priority environmental projects.
In this newly created position, you will lead and support community partnership projects focused on waste minimisation, and work with community groups to develop capacity and capability of the community to avoid the creation of waste. You will also be greatly involved with Council’s waste minimisation and climate change mitigation initiatives.
This full-time role offers variety and autonomy; no two days will be the same. From working in partnership with others and developing relationships, to designing new programmes of work, managing contracts and inspiring others, you can be assured you are joining a dynamic workspace.
Environmental management experience is important and we’re also interested in your excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people. Your commitment to achieving great environmental outcomes, as well as your ability to juggle priorities will ensure your success in this role.
A qualification in environmental science, natural resource management, or relevant experience in a carbon reduction or waste minimisation related role will see your application stand out. Nelson City Council wants to support environmental improvement and your input will be essential to this work.
