Science Team Leader – Contaminated Sites

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead a pro-active team that is recognised nationally for its work in managing contaminated land, hazardous substances and waste management in Canterbury.

The role requires highly effective leadership, management and support for a team of 7 scientists. Under your leadership, your team will design, implement, report on and assess site investigations, monitoring programmes and activities and provide high-quality technical advice to internal and external stakeholders.  This includes being part of education and advocacy initiatives alongside industry and our territorial authority partners and working with central government on national policy development. 

This is an opportunity to be involved in shaping contaminated land and waste management nationally while you strengthen local relationships.  You will help us address challenging issues and find effective ways to share our science and data with the public.

The position requires strong people and leadership skills. You will have a relevant post-graduate qualification and a thorough understanding of contaminated land, hazardous substances and waste management. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
