The Sustainability & Waste Team is responsible for the implementation of corporate sustainability and the delivery of waste services to the City. There is a part-time position for a Corporate Sustainability Manager working 32 hours per week. We want the right person for this unique and impactful role so we are open to how and when the 32 hours are worked as long as it between our standard business hours.

This position of Corporate Sustainability Manager is key to establishing a more strategic, consistent and co-ordinated approach to corporate environmental sustainability.  It is an opportunity for someone to lead and support the delivery of corporate sustainability behaviour change programmes, work with the wider organisation to improve their sustainability performance, evaluate the existing sustainability strategy, and develop and implement a new corporate sustainability strategy, and represent the council on various industry groups.

In this role, your purpose will be to embed yourself in the organisation and get the strategy off the ground seeing it come to life. As the lead, you will be the subject matter expert. There are many priorities in this position and the ideal candidate will have big-picture thinking as well as an ability to determine the most relevant priorities, and a focus on delivering to achieve desired outcomes. 

We are looking for someone with 5 years + experience in this field and who is passionate about environmental issues with an understanding of the political environment that we work.

The ideal candidate will be someone who builds strong working relationships, has an ability to determine relevant priorities focusing on the things that we can influence, and is confident working within a set framework, balancing various priorities, and is outcome and delivery focused. 

The ideal candidate will be adaptable and flexible in their working style and will possess the following:

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role.
  • Tertiary qualification in environmental sciences, environmental management, engineering or sustainability or post graduate in education/social science.
  • Drivers’ license.
