Contracts Manager, Infrastructure Services

Dunedin is an amazing place to live and work, and if you were to ask anyone living here, they’ll tell you that there’s something indescribably special about our city. It’s small enough to feel like you’re part of a community, but big enough to ensure that there’s always something going on. From the great outdoors to arts, culture and education, all within 10 minutes of the city centre. Dunedin has so much to offer, so why not come and feel just how special it is?

This is an interesting and expansive opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager with the Dunedin City Council’s Infrastructure Services Group.

There are two parts to this critical role:

Initially, the role will report to the Group Manager in Waste and Environmental Solutions, covering a 12 month period of parental leave.

Your key responsibilities will include the management of operational delivery contracts, including kerbside waste and recycling collections, Green Island landfill, rural collections, plus financial and asset management. The parental leave cover role will have a management component with two direct reports.

On completion of this initial engagement, you will have the opportunity to work in a contracts management role within our broader Infrastructure Services team, including 3 Waters and Transport. This is a rare opportunity to apply your extensive contracts management experience across more than one divisional area, engaging fully across the broader infrastructure arena.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • a professional, can-do attitude
  • exceptional leadership skills
  • experience in financial management and setting budgets
  • knowledge of commercial contract management
  • well developed organisational and planning skills.

Your experience in the management of commercial contracts will include all relevant health and safety requirements and contract auditing, ideally in local government. You should also have people management experience, as well as exceptional organisational skills, together with the ability to plan and deliver effectively in a complex and sometimes pressured environment.

If this exciting opportunity sounds like you, and you are a team player who can add value to our Infrastructure Services Group, we look forward to hearing from you.

Applications close Friday 15th February 2019.
