The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Waste Management Institute New Zealand Inc, was held at 5pm, 24 September 2019.  Sixty one members were present in Hamilton, and heard from Chair Darren Patterson, and CEO Janine Brinsdon as to the key achievements and financial performance for the period 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2019. Recognition was given to Paul Evans with his tenure as CEO finishing March 2019.  Janine Brinsdon shared her commitment as CEO, to provide support to the WasteMINZ team and to continue the delivery of high quality programmes and services with, and for, WasteMINZ members. 

Darren Patterson announced the results of the board elections.  Wayne Plummer – EnviroWaste Services was re-elected, and he will be joined by two newly elected members for the following two years.  These new members are:  Alice Grace – Morrison Low, and Alec McNeil – Marlborough District Council.   Darren thanks the 924 members who voted for five nominees, in a tightly contested election.   At the December 2019 board meeting, the board will elect a Chair and Deputy Chair.  Darren Patterson announced at the AGM that he would not seek re-election as Chair for the coming twelve months, but would remain on the board until the end of his current term (AGM, 20 October 2020).
