From 1 January 2021 you will need a permit from the Environmental Protection Authority before you can import or export certain types of plastic waste. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

The Government has approved regulations under the Imports and Exports (Restrictions) Prohibition Order (No 2) 2004 <https://mfe-inhouse.cmail20.com/t/r-l-juhjtijl-odijihldtr-r/>  for the trade in plastic waste.

This is in line with new international obligations under the Basel Convention.

The new regulations mean that from 1 January 2021 you will need a permit from the Environmental Protection Authority before you can import or export certain types of plastic waste.
