It’s been announced that the government will use Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) to help critical workforces, businesses and supply chains to stay open.
There are 25 new cases of COVID-19 in the community, of which 10 are the Omicron variant. There are also 37 new cases of COVID-19 at the border. There are currently 10 cases of COVID-19 in hospitals across New Zealand, none of which are in ICU.
Masks must now also be worn at food and drink businesses, close proximity businesses, events and gatherings. The Government now requires that a face covering be an actual mask – for example, scarves, bandannas, or t-shirts cannot pulled up over the face. 5,000 portable air cleaners have been ordered for schools. 56,788 booster doses were administered yesterday. 85% of active border workers that are required to get a booster by 15 February have already done so.
