WasteMINZ Board election 2022

WasteMINZ Board members provide governance and strategic direction for WasteMINZ, monitor the organisation's performance, and protect the integrity of the organisation. The Board consists of six WasteMINZ financial members who are elected for a term of two years. Three of the six elected board members complete their two-year terms at alternate annual general meetings. 
Parul Sood, Auckland Council; Todd McLeay, Smart Environmental; and David Howie, Waste Management NZ will complete their terms at the AGM in October 2022. The remaining three board members, Alec McNeil, Alice Grace and Wayne Plummer complete their two-year term of office in 2023.

WasteMINZ called for Board nominations in August 2022. Seven candidates have been nominated:
  • Craig Downie - chief executive, EcoCentral
  • Dave Bull - director, HAIL Environmental
  • David Howie - general manager - lower North Island, Waste Management NZ 
  • Mike Jones - general manager, Smart Environmental/Earthcare
  • Parul Sood - general manager waste solutions, Auckland Council 
  • Paul Evans- chair, Localised
  • Sam Fellows - manager of sustainability and waste, Tauranga City Council

The election process:

Voting opens on Monday, 19 September and closes at 5pm, Thursday 6 October. Voting papers will be sent to the primary contact of each financial member on Monday 19 September.  If you are not the primary contact, you will be sent an email advising you who this is, so that you can liaise with them about who you would like to vote for.

The elected board members will be announced at the WasteMINZ AGM which will be held virtually on Tuesday 18 October 2022.
