This webinar will describe the steps taken to put in place an asbestos management plan for Bluegums Landfill in Blenheim. It will focus on the process followed, involving all of the PCBUs, to design an asbestos management plan that takes account of the health and safety risks and the particular circumstances at Bluegums Landfill that influenced the design of the plan.

About the presenters:

Alec is the Solid Waste Manager at Marlborough District Council. He has been involved in the waste industry since the 1990s, including the establishment and operation of landfill sites in the UK. Part of his current role with Council is the contract management of the operation of the Bluegums Landfill site in Marlborough.

Hugh is a Principal Civil and Environmental Engineer based at Tonkin + Taylor’s Wellington office.  He has more than 25 years of experience with landfill engineering projects. His involvement in such projects ranges from site selection studies, concept design and consent applications through detailed design to preparation of construction contract documents, site supervision and construction quality assurance. Hugh also has extensive experience in the operation of landfills, including the design and administration of landfill operation contracts, and works closely with a number of councils and their operations contractors.
