Join us in this session to hear how Lyttlelton Port Company and Transpower both moved from setting waste minimisation goals, to putting in the mahi to get there, what they have learnt along the way, and what the next steps in their journey will look like.

The news is full of organisations’ climate and environmental ambitions – from becoming net zero, supporting local projects and reducing waste to landfill.  But how do organisations move from commitments in glossy annual plans and reports to implementation?

This webinar will look at two very different organisations’ journeys towards waste to landfill minimisation.  The case studies will share a large scale nationwide bespoke product stewardship roll out, as well as engagement with workers to recycle and plenty in between.  The webinar will show that there is no one solution to waste minimisation, but many options depending on current structure, distribution, business outputs and delivery.

Chris Grant - Over the past 15 years, 5R Solutions, led by managing director Chris Grant, has saved over 475,000 tonnes of glass from going to landfill—equivalent to 74 Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of glass kept in circulation!
What began as a vision after Chris was made redundant in 2009 has grown into a nationwide network, working with partners to recycle up to 70% of New Zealand’s flat glass ♻
5R transforms glass into high-value products like Pink Batts insulation, new bottles, pool filters, and even filtration systems.
"Giving this precious resource a new lease on life is something I'm incredibly proud of," says Chris.
5R Solutions Limited is driving change in the industry by showcasing how circularity, collaboration, and innovation can keep valuable materials in circulation and minimise waste.
