We have said before that this will be no ordinary event.

Whether you attend via your laptop from home or office, or at one of our hosted hubs around the country, your ideas, feedback and contributions to these discussions are crucial:

At our panel discussions across the Summit, you will hear issues debated that are central to our sectors: sustainability in CLM; the future for fibre, product stewardship and organics; risks and opportunities of onshore processing; national policy changes; determining risk under the NES, landfills and climate change; building better for NZ; disaster planning; managing on-site rather than remediating; the waste disposal levy expansion; and balancing risks vs. costs when faced with low levels of contaminants. You will have the opportunity to feed into these debates and take part in discussions throughout the Summit.

Over three hours, the Ministry for the Environment will outline their 18 month work programme. You will have input into discussions which will help shape the review of the Waste Minimisation Act (2008), the Waste Minimisation Fund management, allocation of proposed revenue from the waste disposal levy and investment priorities to address the $1.2 – $2bn shortfall in waste and resource recovery infrastructure.

The CLM Summit Stream will start with a workshop, where you will be encouraged to think outside the dig and dump box. On the following days there will be discussions on rethinking the role of sustainability in business, New Zealand’s lead exposure risk models, the ins and outs of the Contaminated Site Safety Certificate, banning remediation, managing low levels of asbestos, how Victoria is tackling contaminated land via its new laws, and residential lead.

Evidence-based practices from our closest neighbours across the Tasman will flow into discussions across both the Waste and Resource Recovery and the CLM Summit Streams, sharing knowledge and experience that can help us to live by our promise – to be the change that improves the future throughout our entire industry, for the whole of NZ Inc.
