The Government has deferred the introduction of the Container Return Scheme. The Prime Minister has indicated that the CRS is still on the Government’s agenda and will be relooked at in the future.
The Prime Minister said the Government is refocusing its priorities to put the cost of living front and centre.
"The evidence overseas shows that this does help to reduce waste," the PM said.
"However, it’s also estimated to add small additional costs to households, and we don’t want to be imposing those additional costs right at the moment.
"This policy does remain on the agenda, and we will look to assess it again in the future when the time is right to do so."
