Beyond the pump: The long-term impact of the fuel crisis on waste and resource recovery sectors

While fuel prices appear to have stabilised (they even appear to be slowly reducing) the effects of this crisis are likely far from over. The “long tail” of the fuel crisis will continue to have consequences over the coming months, possibly even years from now while the sector and the world recovers. The shorter term pressures from recent price hikes and fuel shortage risks have resulted in some challenging situations, tough conversations and strains on business operations. But while there are still some tough times ahead for the sector, the crisis has brought to the fore more opportunities, and possibly the willingness, to consider options for improved efficiency and more resilient business models.

Join our panel of industry experts as they take a future focused perspective to discuss the hard decisions, long tail repercussions and new opportunities of recent these events on the waste and resource recovery sector.

Panel members:

  • Morgan Harrison, Whanganui District Council
  • Daniel Yallop, Re.Group
  • Gina Dempster, Wanaka Waste Busters

  • Karen Titulaer
