Join us for an interactive online workshop into the economics of waste. We'll delve into the insights from the Assessing the economic contributions of the sectors to New Zealand report commissioned by WasteMINZ and written by NZIER, and help you to:
- unlock the practical value of the report
- understand the role of the waste, resource recovery and contaminated land management sectors in terms of business, productivity and economic growth
- explore how to apply the report’s findings to your part of the sector
- contribute to the wider conversation.
This workshop is perfect for you if you're interested in:
- productivity,
- the underlying drivers of the economy,
- what our sectors’ biggest economic opportunity is,
- our biggest economic challenge, and
- how our sectors can create change.
We'll be joined by lead author of the report, NZIER senior economist Roshen Kulwant, who will present on the insights from the report.
We'll then have a short Q & A session with Roshen, before breaking into groups to delve into the detail.
Each breakout group will be facilitated, and we'll be using Miro boards to document the discussions.
WasteMINZ will distribute a post-workshop report which will highlight the themes of the discussions, any tangible steps you can take to put these insights into action, and the next steps for us.
- what our sectors’ biggest economic opportunity is,
- what our sectors’ biggest economic challenge is,
- what insights in the report are most useful to you, and
- whether these insights enable your organisation to create change.
The workshop is also an opportunity to identify others who are interested in similar areas, and work with them to build on the insights from the research.
We've gained insight into the research, and had some fantastic discussions in our break-out groups - so now what?
After the workshop, WasteMINZ will develop and distribute a report, which will:
- Summarise what has been recorded on the Miro boards
- Highlight any tangible steps that you can take within your organisation to turn the insights into actions, and
- Identify the next steps for WasteMINZ and the wider sector.
