Our food systems are driving not only poor health outcomes but also contributing to environmental degradation and inequities. The University of Auckland's research team is working to adapt the current Food-EPI tool, used to monitor and benchmark government progress on food environments, to include sustainability, equity and health-focused indicators across the entire food supply chain.
This session offers a chance to connect with sustainability and food waste experts, learn about the Food-EPI tool and its future direction, and explore how your expertise will be essential in shaping its evolution.
About your speakers:
Ella Johnson
Ella Johnson is a Master’s student training to become a Dietitian. With a background in human nutrition and psychology, she is passionate about understanding how our environments and behaviours shape health. Her current research focuses on food systems and policy, with a particular interest in understanding the symbiotic relationship between sustainability, health and nutrition.
Sally Mackay 
Dr Sally Mackay is a senior lecturer in population health nutrition at the University of Auckland and a Registered Nutritionist. Her research focuses on the food environment, food labelling, food prices, reformulation, dietary assessment and healthy and sustainable diets.
