CLM Networking Event

WasteMINZ is delighted to announce the first CLM Networking event of the year to be held in Wellington. A big thank you to our sponsor Tonkin + Taylor for allowing us to utilise their premises. 

 

Whilst the event is free for WasteMINZ members, non-members are most welcome to attend (at $49 + GST per attendee). We do ask you to register to help us with the catering for the event.


These events provide a great opportunity to (re-)connect with colleagues from across the sector in person.

Speakers

David Pickett (Tonkin + Taylor) - is a Terrestrial Ecologist at Tonkin & Taylor Ltd. He has wide ranging practical experience in terrestrial ecological systems and an extensive technical background. These aspects have led him to hold key roles on numerous major infrastructure projects across New Zealand. David also completes some niche technical work on various smaller projects.
David has been responsible for the planning and management of ecological surveys, designing monitoring protocols and scientific trials, providing a variety of ecological advice, managing/reporting/assessing consent compliance, and technically reviewing reports and management plans. Working throughout the country has provided David with a broad knowledge of many regional and district plans and extensive working knowledge of the Resource Management Act, Wildlife Act and National Policy Statements.


James Mitchell (Ministry for the Environment) -  is a senior analyst in the contaminated land workspace at the Ministry for the Environment (MfE) and his work mainly involves producing contaminated land guidance for regulators and contaminated land professionals. Prior to MfE, he was a hazardous substances specialist for the Northland Regional Council in New Zealand.  Before moving to new Zealand in 2008, James worked as an environmental consultant for WSP Walmsley Environmental Consultants, as a conservator in some of South Africa's pristine wildlife parks (Kwazulu Bureau of Natural Resources) and owned and operated J. Mitchell and Associates Environmental Services for 10 years. James’ specialties are contaminated land, resource management compliance and enforcement, New Zealand Resource Management Act, and the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act.


Dave Bull (HAIL Environmental) - is currently serving on the WasteMINZ Board. He is a director of HAIL Environmental and holds Certified Environmental Practitioner – Site Contamination specialist certification. He has over 24 years of professional experience, including 19 years in contaminated land consulting in New Zealand and England, and is well known as a technical reviewer and speaker on contaminated land matters. Dave is New Zealand’s leading authority on arsenic contamination, and has unhealthy interests in the distribution, speciation, bioavailability and sustainable management of heavy metals generally. His main practice areas are quantitative risk assessment and contaminated land management.
