This month's webinar is presented by Anson Kong, who, with a background in commercial interiors, industrial design, and manufacturing, has experienced firsthand the substantial waste generated by the industry. His passion to create a positive change for the better has led him to establish Spacebar Design, addressing this issue directly by offering alternative circular interior solutions that give more than they take. Anson's vision is for these solutions to evolve into industry-standard practices, empowering others in creating stunning interior spaces without a negative impact on our environment.
According to the Ministry for the Environment, over 20% of waste going to landfills is construction waste (around 720,000 tonnes), and a significant portion of that consists of furniture and cabinetry.
Considering that most cabinetry solutions last only 5 - 8 years, and most mass produced furniture has an even shorter lifespan, it's crucial to halt this cycle of wasteful short-term interior solutions. Instead, we need to focus on more sustainable, future-proofing alternatives.
