In this member spotlight, we talk to Minna Vilkuna, who has been in the industry for 26 years. Minna's organisation, Rare Voyage Pty Ltd is an agent for BMH Technology Oy (Finland) for Australia and New Zealand.


Tell us about your organisation

BMH Technology designs and builds solutions for recycling, material recovery, renewable energy and re-creation of raw materials. The main processed feedstocks being MSW, C&IW and woody biomass waste. The company has over 90 years for industrial history. BMH’s headquarters is in City of Rauma on Finland’s west coast. BMH has a comprehensive global reference base with over 270 plant deliveries withindustrial scale capacities for Chemical Recycling and Green Electricity production facilities. 


Why did you want to join WasteMINZ? 

To understand and learn about the waste management industry in New Zealand and to have a channel for introducing BMH Technology to the New Zealand market. And of course, to have contact with like-minded people. 


What topic/issue are you most passionate about when it comes to waste, resource recovery or contaminated land?

My passion is keeping waste out of landfill and seeing it used for sustainable purposes such as green energy.


What are you reading or listening to right now?

At the moment I am reading a book by the Finnish historian Jukka Korpela about European history. I also just started watching ‘Succession’.    


Describe your perfect day outside of work. 

Hiking with friends in WA’s Southwest and working in my garden and in my shed.
