22 July: Small Battery Environmental Scan

Wednesday 22 July, 1pm-2pm

FREE for members and non-members

Background

In 2025 WasteMINZ (thanks to funding from the Ministry for the Environment) commissioned Eunomia to undertake an environmental scan of the small battery situation in New Zealand. The project was to provide an overview of the challenges facing the small battery sector - from the point of manufacturing to end of life and disposal.

The Small Battery Environmental Scan report was published in April 2026.

This webinar is to provide an overview of the approach taken, key findings and recommendations from the report. We will also be joined by Ministry for the Environment staff to present next steps now that the report has been released.

Your speakers:

  • Lisa Eve, Whakatane District Council (formally Eunomia)
  • Katy Chamley, Eunomia
  • Molly Coombes, Eunomia
  • Liz Butcher, Ministry for the Environment
  • Donna Peterson, Ministry for the Environment
