CLM Networking Event

WasteMINZ is delighted to announce a CLM Networking event to be held in Christchurch. A big thank you to our sponsor WSP for allowing us to utilise their premises. 

 

Whilst the event is free for WasteMINZ members, non-members are most welcome to attend (at $49 + GST per attendee). We do ask you to register to help us with the catering for the event.


These events provide a great opportunity to (re-)connect with colleagues from across the sector in person.

'The Karitane Causeway Pipeline' - Colin Jowett (WSP)

Colin is A Principal Environmental Scientist at WSP with more than 11 years of contaminated land sector experience. As a specialist in contaminated land, his role includes design and implementation of field programmes, specialist technical input, project management, consultation with regulators and stakeholders, reports and investigations for consent applications, and technical peer review.


Colin is an active member of both ALGA and WasteMINZ and was a committee member of the ALGA Aukland Branch for 2018-2019. Colin was a Technical contributor to the New Zealand Guidelines for Assessing and Managing Asbestos in Soil in New Zealand (2017), and is a current WasteMinz Committee member of the Soil Disposal Sampling Guidance Working Group. 


Colin has drafted working guidance for the New Zealand Defence Force and Auckland Transport, and in his capacity as a Principal Scientist has been involved in a number of high-profile projects in New Zealand, including CRL, Waitohi Picton, Waikeria Top Jail remediation, Whangārei Boys high School redevelopment, Port Road (Whangārei) bridge / roundabout / level crossing upgrades and the redevelopment of the Kiwa Pools complex in Gisborne.


Colin has recently worked with Waikato Regional Council on Acid Sulphate Soil Investigations in the region and recently presented with WRC and GHD on Acid Sulphates Soils for WRC's upcoming release of Waikato Regional Council's, Waikato Region, Acid Sulphates Soil Survey, and applicable Acid Sulphate Soils Risk maps. 

'Bioremediation and other green cleanup ideas' - Isobel Stout (PDP)

Isobel is a former Senior Environmental Health Officer by profession with more than 30 years of experience in the local government regulatory sector covering contaminated land investigation and management, hazardous substances controls and statutory planning, from reporting on consents to presenting evidence as an expert witness to the Environment Court.

Isobel brings her ability to work across engineering, contaminated land and geotechnical disciplines to weave unique solutions to environmental problems where consenting may be required.  Isobel is a Certified Environmental Practitioner, Fellow of the NZ Institute of Environmental Health and is passionate about research into bioengineered field technology for contaminated land and water remediation.
