Collaborations between the public and private sector are vital for addressing wicked problems such as food waste. Often, such collaborations are in the form of multi-stakeholder partnerships (MSPs). MSPs are characterised by shared goals between multiple stakeholders towards wicked problems which are difficult to tackle alone. In this research, we explore the formation and maintenance of a successful MSP on food waste in the Netherlands. We take a look at some learnings from the case study and how this could be relevant to Aotearoa New Zealand stakeholders. The research takes a particular interest in the role of supporting stakeholders (e.g., those not directly involved in food manufacturing or selling) as their roles and motivations remain unknown.
